At Malabar Farm ~ thru my membership in the Malabar Spinning and Weaving Guild, we were invited to an open house for volunteers ~ I don't, but I will now!
This is the grand stairway at the front entry to famous writer, Louis Bromfield's home. We were able to tour the home and have a lovely wine punch and a light supper ~ very nice!
There were many trees and all the furnishings are original to the house.
This was Mr. Bromfield's huge half-round desk in the office of his large home.
Big beautiful trees flank the living room fireplace ~ so cozy.
The dining room dressed and ready for guests.
The centerpieces were really pretty.
The breakfast room table held a display of pictures and replica of the wedding cake of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall! They were Bromfield's good friends and were married in the house. There is a photo wall of many celebrities of that time who came to the Pleasant Valley to rest and relax on the quiet country estate.
The state of Ohio now owns and maintains Malabar Farm, obviously with the help of many volunteers. I think we will join them! I do a show there in the fall ~ it's a great place to spend the day!
And not to be ones to let any grass grow under our feet, we left there and joined friends for dinner!! A fun evening for sure!

The pictures show more detail if you double click in them!! Hope you enjoy the tour!
What a great place to volunteer. It all looks so elegant and festive with all the Christmas trees.
One way to stay young is to enjoy ALL you can enjoy. Good for you for going out to dinner with friends.
I hope that you are safe from the ice storm.
We didn't get the freezing rain forecasted and today overcast and mild and all the snow is gone. I just want snow for Christmas, lol...
Hugs,
JB
What a lovely way to get in the holiday spirit!
