A LITTLE KITCHEN MAKEOVER ~ ~ ~

The old counters were a blue grey Formica and now they're honed black granite.


We're going to be on a kitchen tour this Saturday and Sonny has been wanting to update the kitchen for a long while now.


It made quite a difference!


He installed beadboard on the wall from the counter to the bottom of the cupboards. Painted it the colonial red used in the rest of the room and I had him overlay it with black and wipe it off to leave it in the grooves of the beadboard.


Yesterday, I washed the bell jars that are in the breezeway and in the garden. The tour goers will exit through our courtyard garden so everything had to be spruced up! Last Saturday, grandson Luke turned 15. So hard to believe that he's that old. Seattle son, Chris, was home for a couple of days last week ~ so lots of fun for me!!

HAPPY HAPPY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I DID BUT I WENT INTO UPDATE MY BLOG AND CUSTOMIZING AND WHO KNOWS WHAT BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF THE BLUE ~ VOILA!!  MY OLD BLOG IS BACK!!!!

SPRING FLOWERS AND FOOD ~ ~ ~

A little welcome bouquet of Lenten Roses on the garden gate!


This is one plant ~ they're the first to bloom - even thru snow if they have to!


My first homemade hummus ~ everybody liked it even the grands !!


Yesterday, we had an interview and photos for an upcoming local Symphony Guild kitchen tour that we will be on. I made a crustless pumpkin crumb pie so it would look like a "working kitchen"!! Kind of my own concoction using the recipe off the pumpkin can and crumb topping off Pinterest ~ pretty tasty!!


This is for members of the WRRH guild - Jason Molyet was the photographer yesterday and son of Elaine Molyet, who was a treasured member of the Guild. What a fine young man he is and I know Elaine was so proud of him!!

The blog issues remain the same ~ bear with me till I take the time to update!!

BEGINNER CLASSES ~ ~ ~

 
Kathy and sisters, Stephanie and Heather ~ happy hookers ~ all came to hook this week!  I had to remove the picture because it was huge!!!!!!!!  Blogger is trying to drive me crazy  ~ and believe me it's a short ride!!!








Wednesday, two new hookers and one almost new hooker spent the day in my hooking room/studio. I love the word studio!! This was Kathy's start on a cute sheep!




















Heather's crow! Sonny built she and her husband a house 19 years ago ~ a colonial reproduction like ours ~ the perfect backdrop for hooked rugs!












The sisters came back for more instruction yesterday. Heather's crow was blending in a little too much with the background, so I had the bright idea to hook in an outline of hand dyed wool yarn ~ I love it when I have a good idea!!




















Stephanie is hooking a sheep, too! It was really a fun two days ~ I love teaching enthusiastic people and helping them find their way to a creative new hobby!!

Lots going on here ~ I've decided we are way too busy for people our age!!

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BLOG ~ ~ ~

Distressed ~ that's what I am!!!  I was looking around my blog and editing my Coming Events and the next thing I know, all is changed.  I can't find the 'layout' to go in and change things and a lot of the things on my sidebar are missing!!  Does anyone know what in the world happened?  I have no desire to recreate a whole new blog!!!  HELP!!!

CIRCLE RUG CONTINUES ~ ~ ~

Filling in the background with assorted darks, also from the worm basket!! Even though I thought I drew random circles, they appear to be in rows! I'm not as random as I'd like to think I am!!


Saturday was the Gathered Treasures Show here in Mansfield. They had a great crowd and there was lots to see ~ primitives and antiques and wool!!


A couple of weeks ago, this old girl had another birthday! Beautiful flowers from SIL, Rachel!


This darling little fish sculpted with Fimo clay is from Marco Margo! A nice gift certificate to the salon, a tote from Pikes Place Market and lots of cards and phone calls! These birthdays come around pretty fast!

Yesterday, I drove to our lake place to get ready for the carpet cleaners and back home today! Had dinner with friends and moved furniture and vacuumed ~ getting ready for a fun summer!

Now to put the hooking room back together after the show. And then some serious hooking time!!

It was 76 deg yesterday and tomorrow SNOW!! Can you believe it? The daffs and Lenten roses aren't going to be happy!! Surely, this will be the end of it!!

So here's wishing you all a Happy Spring ~ it really is just around the corner!!

PUT YOUR WORMS IN A CIRCLE ~ ~ ~

A circle rug, that is!!! Saundra of the Woodland Junction blog posted a variety of circle rugs on her March 22 post, along with an invitation to join her as she de-worms! After a couple of emails with Saundra, I remembered that I had drawn one last year so I took Saundra up on her invitation!! Last night, instead of going to bed, this little mat held me captive in my hooking room!! I made a lot of progress but it requires a lot of thought and isn't really very random. There are various cuts ~ 8, 8.5, 9 & 9.5 and I decided to hook each circle in the same color way sort of !




NED ~ finally finished hooking this boy last night! There were only a few inches of border over the NED to fill in ~ it was a matter of setting down and doing it. The size is 20" x 35" and done in mostly a 9.5 cut with a 10 cut in the border! It was started at the Woolley Fox Last fall and one of my new favorites!!

If you have a worm pile, why don't you hook along with us and post your pix or send them to one of us to post! My worm basket is not all that big since I cut as I go ~ but they still add up, don't they?
